3D Printing - Printer Projects
Here are all of the projects that I have done on my 3d printer starting with the first test print. I will continue to add my projects to this site and I work through them and print them out. I will keep the printer upgrades as a separate page, since I had already started that page first.
3D Printing 1st Project
Here is my first project, which is just an initial test of my Qidi Tech 1 3d printer. It actually turned out pretty well overall as the quality seems to be pretty good. The orange PLA that I used was the plastic that came with the printer.
3D Printing 2nd Project
Here is my second project, which is a keychain design that I wanted to do for this website. The initial design I ended up doing from scratch, using TinkerCAD, which is an online design application. It allows you put simple shapes together to form a complex object. I think that my first design and print turned out pretty good, even though I did want to re-design this right away.
3D Printing 3rd Project
Here is the re-design of the JVO Racing keychain. I much happier with the oval design versus the square design. I believe that this looks much better and is a bit more functional, since you don't stab yourself like with the square version.
3D Printing 4th Project
Here is the final version for the keychain design along with a ring that has been installed. I do plan on designing a few more keychains as I get more used to the TinkerCAD website. I have a few ideas, which I will post here if I end up creating and printing them.
3D Printing 5th Project
I ended up creating this Battery Tool in order to assist in getting the batteries out of my Kyosho Mini-Z cars. This took actually works really well. It allows you to pop out all of the batteries from the car at the same time. I found this project to be very worth while. I did end up printing a few of these and gave away a few to friends that also race RC cars.
3D Printing 6th Project
I did end up creating a custom camper keychain for myself, which I think turned out pretty well. I did end up putting my name on the keychain for a bit more customization.
3D Printing 7th Project
Based on the Battery Removal tool, I ended up designing a tool that could remove the small connectors on the Kyosho Mini-Z car. It worked pretty good, but the material has a tendancy to break at the ends, which are very small. I am not sure if this would be corrected by printing this in ABS, but I would imagine not.
3D Printing 8th Project
This is a project where I made a cell phone stand for the nightstand for my iPhone 7+. It worked great up until I updated my phone, which it is now not the correct size. I guess I could make another stand, but I think that I would end up making a simpler stand, since this took quite some time to print out, I believe it took a total of 14 hours.
3D Printing 9th Project
I designed this Camper Keychain to see about maybe selling this online. I did end up creating an Etsy store, but did not sell any of these keychains. I do still have a few just in case.
3D Printing 10th Project
I thought that this was a great idea, making a Cloud Storage to hold USB and SD Cards. I initally designed this for myself and still have this on my desk to hold my USB and SD Cards, but I also listed this on my Etsy account and even sold one or two. I believe that this is one of my most creative designs
3D Printing 11th Project
This was another design that I originally made for myself, which I have a few of these at my offices, but I also listed this online on my Etsy account and ended up selling a few.
3D Printing 12th Project
I ended up finding this online at the Thingiverse, which I thought was very cool and ended up printing this out. I just keep it with all of the rest of my 3d printed items, so I don't really end up using this at all.
3D Printing 13th Project
This project was more of a necessity as we had batteries in packages all over. Most of the packages have already been opened with a few batteries removed from each. This little design came from Thingiverse and turned out great. We are able to organize all of our double and triple A batteries into one container.
3D Printing 14th Project
This was my first large project, which required multiple 3d prints and some assembly. I used the Count Dooku lightsaber because of the unusual design. It is not just a straight lightsaber like some of the ones that are featured in Star Wars. I believe that this ended up turning out pretty decent for my first big project. I am still working on the gluing and finishing of these, so I am hoping that future projects will turn out better.
3D Printing 15th Project
I printed this toothpaste slider, which I found here at Thingiverse. This was a more useful project, which I ended up making several. I made two for myself and one for my Mom.
3D Printing 16th Project
I printed this No-touch door opener, which I found here at Thingiverse due to this whole Covid-19 issue. I ended up using an infil of 50% just to make it more sturdy, which it really is. I think you could go for a higher infil, but it would add to the printing time in order to do that.
